id be down for a halfway device between One and Two, if they can keep the pricing closer to the One.

i really like that they are giving us more lan ports, but the hefty price tag really dissapoints me.
really puts it into unaffordable territory for my global south ass. too bad, i wanted to upgrade my wifi with an officially supported device, but the One doesnt have as many ports as i need.
for that price id rather get something that can run full linux.
loch ness monster
try the flatpak version. its more up to date than debian repositories, directly supported by the devs in most cases and should work more consistently.
think of it as the equivalent of mobile app packages coming from the app store when it comes to ease of use. id go as far as recommending you use it over the alternatives whenever possible.
i’m already doing this with gnome lol.
if my computer was older, probably xfce.
can you exemplify a few of the things you miss?
south america. we don’t spend in dollars, but we also don’t earn in dollars so its probably just as expensive as you are thinking.
ill be fair: there are cheaper alternatives but they are further away and inconvenient. ill note though that before the pandemic we had tickets for 25-30 bucks and even less.
in my country the price to watch a movie (no popcorn, or other extras) exploded and never really came back down.
its kind of cool and all but it isnt worth it to pay more than 100 bucks between me and my partner, when we have a tv and piracy at the comfort of our own home.
oh my observation comes from the blogs recommending it.
but i couldnt have put it better myself, except i think you mean 9070 XT
@op, they may suggest you to change your kernel version to support newer hardware, don’t do this unless you know what you are doing and can undo it from cli. its fine 90% of the time but can cause weirdness or no boot.
i want to try another distro than ubuntu, but the damn thing isnt giving me a single excuse to format my system. it doesnt break if you don’t fuck with it.
i think its more about modifying the system behavior, esp on desktop oses. i have many local services running on my server, and if set up right, its pretty much no maintenance at all.
i did a bit of back and forth with a couple of debian based distros in the past but it always ended up buggy and weird. it was a desktop install though, i imagine servers would be simpler.
theres pain but its also very satisfying to pull this kind of stuff off. im more of a stable system kind of guy these days tho.
you can either have a system to learn on, or a stable system to work on.
