i just use xterm. it has proper unicode support now and is very lightweight. or maybe urxvt if i need more features.
on termux where xterm doesn’t run i use st instead, it needs some source patching (very barebones) but it works pretty well.

850 sounds crazy. maybe you forgot to subtract cached memory?
maybe try mplayer/xine/mpv?
it was pretty popular back then. some people still use it, tho i use fvwm
Celeron M with 2GB ram? That’s actually not low at all :p
I bet it runs NetBSD or Tinycore flawlessly
Interesting, I never knew. Thanks
sort | uniq can be sort -u instead btw
these shitty win8 laptops are surprisingly low power and efficient though.
Same. I still haven’t figured out so my setup is a horrible mess with nfs, rsync and a bunch of symlinks… and no structured backup
it’s a bit tedious but i usually just use libreoffice/openoffice impress to annotate on a screenshot made using xv
For backup, one can simply rsync their entire home directory.
NFS for shared directory, maybe syncthing to have locally synced stuff, scp for sharing files?
that’s very weird. maybe x11 vs wayland?
south korea
i’ve kinda looked into it and my solution was running full libreoffice inside proot inside termux using termux-x11. kinda glitchy but it is surprisingly usable on a tablet+keyboard.
wow… i have about 70% on my 2012 9cell and get about 2.5 hours with highly optimized config(slackware, power management, governor, brightness etc). 5-12hrs with a core2duo sounds very good.
still couldn’t find a proper new battery, hope i score one soon
Just curious but how do you manage to keep the X200T/T500’s battery alive? Even my X220’s is almost dead by now. Do you have it plugged in 24/7?
fully agree. i usually sacrifice one of my less used keys and bind it as a left mouse click instead.
offtopic but your english is great :)
selection autocopy and wheel/shift ins pasting is superior to all alternatives imo
does this also happen with pure alsa (i.e. no pulse or pipewire)
