have lost GPUs before, but not yet to mining.
I have. Power rails on GPU shorted due to failed MOSFET, blew the PSU as well as the card. The mini-explosion woke the whole family at 2am. I was also running it just under what was considered the high end of tolerable for the card, with a huge box fan attached to the side of the open case.
And if it survives until then will have a couple months of gaming out of it before a dried out capacitor or overstressed MOSFET blows. Ask me how I know.
Let it be. The people designing the OS most likely know better than you or anyone else in this thread. I know the urge to “tweak” things is strong, but some defaults are defaults for a good reason.
According to Beeks, OpenNebula has enabled the company to dedicate more of its 3,000 bare metal server fleet to client loads instead of to VM management, as it had to with VMware. With OpenNebula purportedly requiring less management overhead, Beeks is reporting a 200 percent increase in VM efficiency since it now has more VMs on each server.
Salt in the wound for VMware.
