  • I didn’t get diagnosed with bipolar disorder until later in life. My lumbar spine is riddled with disc ruptures from physically overextending myself to the point of collapse during manic periods.

it isn’t so bad on the day to day but i can’t sit at bar stools without lumbar support or upright in the bed/on the ground for more than about 5 minutes without pain. No bicycles or lifting anything much.

If i could do it over i would know my human limits!!!

  • i’m older than most of you but i just got my favorite present ever this year. My girlfriend got me a moonstone necklace and (even though she’s not really a believer) she took it out on a full moon and bathed it in moonlight and asked Hecate to bless it for me by way of a beautiful poem that she wrote that i can’t read without sobbing.

It’s the only thing i own that I consider treasure and I rarely take it off.

  • Forums and blogs mostly; at the end of the day there’s a lot of similarity between fermenting and brewing and they are both really basic. If you use a search engine good keywords for alcohol are ‘hooch’ and ‘pruno’ and for vegetables ‘lacto ferment’ and then add in whatever you are trying to ferment and you’ll usually find lots of other people who have been doing it and love sharing their techniques.

My favorite right now is the Ginger Bug because i can’t quite seem to get it right and carbonate tea with it and that makes it interesting as the rest were very simple.

  • stacks of diskettes, for every operating system.

would routinely spend hours doing an install only to hit a block and have to reinstall DOS to have modem access to get help on usenet. Then hours of reinstalling to move forward and repeat on another issue.

I really loved it though, it was a massive upgrade over DOS and windows on a 286.
